Searching for the fabulous "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" by Franki Valli on
youtube I found it with this clip full of Cary Grant. So far all you Cary Grant, as well as Franki Valli fans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OlzYveML1o By the way, anyone know the name of the woman at 1.54 in the clip ? Seen her face before but don't recall the name. I wish she would look at me like that. |

I am sure she is well known but while I can remember faces I can't remember names. Don't know the name of the film.

Bergman!? With that tiny little button nose and those cheeks? No way! This could only be one person!
That's a 19 year-old *Shirley Temple*. It's from a movie called, "The Bouncer and the Bobby-Soxer". You can actually see the exact video where the still is taken from here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AsUibM8j3w&feature=related (Although the youtube person really screwed up the aspect ratio of the video.) |

Well at least she wasn't singing Animal Crackers in My Soup.
So that's Cary Grant? I can see why HE was so popular in his day, although that stagy, square-jawed, Marlboro Man perfection could get quite quite boring after a while....... I think . |

You're right. Personally, I think that Carey Grant was a bit stiff. I prefer Bogart in the lead.

He always looked like he wasn't sure whether to bat for the straight team or not. But he has never been a US ambassador like Shirley Temple - in Ghana as I recall. |

I did think the nightshirt was a bit weird but then all actors of his generation seem to be fair game for 'dancing at the other end of the ballroom' allegations. Wasn't the same said about Rock Hudson, among others ?

Wow, I never knew that the "you remind me of the man/what man/the man with the power" etc was from an old song until I saw Cary Grant say it. Always thought it was Bowie! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBmeOzSzKoY hehe!
Anyways Ekaterinburg, interesting way of putting the big question ;o) But yes, it's pretty much accepted that Cary Grant was bisexual, and that Rock Hudson was gay. Just a shame they had to keep it all so closeted in those days. |
