| Venice | October/November trip Posted: Wed July 23, 2008 09:37 AM UTC
I've been so influenced by the VT's travel pages on Venice I'm going this year to see it for the first time with my husband. We are free to travel October or November and cant decide which. We live in a sunny climate so dont mind the rain for a week. But I wondered, is October considered high season?

MAybe, and meaybe not... Look at some accomodation site to see what they do. For sure it won't be in Lido island, that is vocated as a sea resort, too.
Ciao Francesco

I've been to Venice several times including once in October. One thing I can promise is it's a place like no other at any time of year.
October is a little quieter and it should be possible to find accommodation on arrival. My recollection is that a number of international travellers had found their way there via Munich and the Octoberfest. The weather is likely to be better in October but having been there on another occasion during a quite spectacular electric storm I really wouldn't worry about the weather too much. One point, If your budget stretches to it and you arrive from the airport, Get a water taxi into the City, Its quite spectacular day or night. Not cheap but much better value than an overpriced Gondola ride.

Trying to predict the weather can be difficult because of local on the day variations.
This information should be used as a guide only. Here is the average weather for Venice for this time of year. Enjoy your holiday. October. High 65f / 18c Low 49f / 9c Rain 2.72in / 69.0mm Sun % 21 November. High 53f / 12c Low 40f / 4c Rain 3.44in / 87.3mm Sun % 12

October or even November is the best season to visit venice as its less crowded.
The weather is good. Many July and August are peak seasons and Italy is tooo crowded in that season. You can even enjoy romantic dinner at Venice. For more details you can visit my blog. Bye Meghana http://traveller1234.blogspot.com
