Since it has been built under the name of "castallion ton galatou" then "tower of the christ" it always stands at the same place.

I've been working in a project about Galata for more then 5 years. I also live very close to the tower and this is the first time I heard about that. There used to be 7 towers in the past around the area called Galata. The ruins of some of them are still exist but the Main one (Galata Tower) has always been there and it it the highest-Largest one among the others. The other towers had their own names and none of them used to called as th Galata Tower.

BY the way the tower is renovated, restructured in the history, first it was made of wood. The other unproven fact is the tower is at the center of underground channels surrounded whole area. There are some channels already known but never digged. And they say the channels are pretty grift and some of them ends at the sea shore.
