Hello,
I am flying into mexico city in august. I will be there two quick nights. Any suggestions on areas I should look for a hotel? Hotel doesn't need to be super cheap. just something nice and clean in a good area. thanks! |

How is the location? what neighborhood is this in and is it where i would want to be? Campos Eliseos 252 Mexico City 11560 I am sure there better more cultural places to stay, but figured I would check becaseu the rate is good and this hotels has hammocks in the bath's of the room!

Well, if it's hotel ammenities what you're looking for then the area where the hotel is located doesn't make much difference. The zone where the W is located is considered as "classy" or fancy.... lots of jewish and wealthy people live in this neighborhood (polanco), there are a lot of restaurants and bars so it's lively even during the night (a good part of it at least, as it's a very big area). W hotel is close to Hard rock cafe, an irish pub, a starbucks, many restaurants and other luxury hotels such as Marriott, Nikko and Intercontinental, and a metro station ("Auditorio", orange line). It's not too far from Zona Rosa, where there's lots of nightlife too. The Chapultepec castle and several museums (Anthropology, Contemporary art, etc.) are located nearby too, if you're interested in sightseeing. The Chapultepec castle is called this way because of the huge park surrounding it (Chapultepec), which is the biggest green area in town, divided in 3 sections and featuring a lake where you can row. So I guess all this should give you plenty to do in these 2 days. Enjoy your trip.

thanks! not really going for ammentities and definitely not starbucks. I want to see the culture. The hotel is just a place to sleep and if it is nice that is good to. More want to be near a areas such as you mentioned and some night life. Maybe I will check for places to stay in Zona Rosa. thanks

I would go for the W. The hammock depends on the rate you pay as some rooms won't have a nice view from the hammock.
The are is the nicest for you to go out at night, a couple of minutes away from Chapultepec Park where you can take the Turibus to look around, minutes away from Museo de Antropologia which is pretty impressive. It is also like 15 minutes away (with traffic) from City Center where you'll find old buildings, Palacio de Bellas Artes, pyramids, etc. Enjoy
