Valencia Travel Forum

We are staying in Valencia for 4 nights next week and apart from 1 day when we go to Villarreal for the match with Liverpool we will be in and around the city. We would like to see Valencias stadium on one of the days - do they offer stadium tours? If so can we go on any day or is it open only on certain days? Will Valencia be playing any friendly games at home next week or is it too early as I think they have only just returned to training?

On the other days we will probably mix a little sight seeing with a beach trip but on the whole it should be a relaxing trip in the sunshine!

Any suggestions on what is not to be missed would be welcome - not along the lines of museums or too much culture though please :)

Hi! Some things to do might be a climb up Micalets 207 steps for a 360 degree view of Valencia. This is part of the Cathedral, where you can also see 'The Holy Grail' and the severed arm of St Vincent. We enjoyed the Bus turistico-12 euros for a tour around the city, which takes you to the futuristic looking Arts and Sciences park with its waterworld - Oceanografic- the largest in Europe. We didn't have time to look around here, instead we got a taxi to the beach Playa de los Arenas, and enjoyed the beachside bars as well as a stroll along the sandy beach.

i couldn't find if they have stadium tour...

they are currently building a new one, but there is little to see yet.

I agree that you can stay in the beaches of Valencia if you want, they are wide and clean, the water is not clean enough to get a 'blue flag' (a quality mark given by UE eand renewed every year) but are absolutely safe for swimming.

El Saler has a more natural environment, is in Vlaencia but quite outside of the city and getting there by public transport is more complicated.

If you have a car, on of the best beaches in Valencia are nearby Sagunto and Canet (beaches are far from train stations).

I woudln't pay too much attention to Valencia museums, only oceanografic at the CAC complex is interesting.

Many thanks for those tips. That view sounds petty spectacular so I may well brave the climb. Can't wait now, just need to pack a few t shirts and we'll be ready to go. If I manage to finish the chores at home I will spend a bit of time scouring the tips pages.
