Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Montreal NHL Ice Hockey tickets
Posted: Tue July 22, 2008 03:45 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm planning on revisiting Canada in Mid December and want to take in an Ice Hockey game if I can.
I've asked on the Toronto forum how feasable it would be to get my hands on any ticket for any maple leafs game and the answer was basically zero.

So I've searched online for other teams to see and it looks like Montreal has a better NHL team than Toronto so i'd like to see them play instead.
My question is therefore is it possible to buy a ticket online for a Montreal canadiens game or are my chances 0%?

Hi - if you're willing to pay you can always check on ebay or with a ticket broker. Otherwise, check their site http://canadiens.nhl.com/tickets/tickets_info.htm. Looks like the new season schedule is out but that tickets aren't available yet. Happy Travels!

There may be a chance to see the games in Montreal Dec 2,11,20 and 21. In Ottawa Dec 13,16 and 20.
These are just a guess as the opponants might not draw as many fans. I could be wrong depending on the number of visits they have per year.

Your comment about Montreal having a better team really made me laugh. Maple Laugh that is.
In Vancouver you can buy tickets, to sold out games, game day on Craigslist.com or at the arena from resellers, it may be possible in Toronto, Montral and Ottawa but, they will be much higher than face value until midway into the first period.

There are also "scalpers" standing near the entrances....bargain for price.....wait till game starts as prices drop....sometimes people who are not scalpers but who just can't make the game or someone gave them free tickets will also be there trying to sell them......can usually get a better deal on these. Price depends often on who they are playing and therefore how popular the game is likely to be.

Hi Thanks for your replies.

Do you know how close to the game starting that tickets go on sale?
Here in England the footie tickets go on general sale about 2 weeks before a game.
I need to book my flight pretty sharpish so wouldnt want to get to Montreal without a ticket to be honest.

Ottawa will be the easiest clank, they don't have the massive fan base that Toronto/Montreal have. That said, if you want the true hockey experience, TO or MON are the places to be (nothing against my Sens, just we prefer watching the game to acting like yahoos ;) ).

In Ottawa, I think you can get standing room tickets on the third level for around $30. Keep in mind Scotiabank place is a painful bus ride from the city centre. They have a special bus, but if you've been consuming large amounts of beer, you're in for a rough ride!
