| Tel Aviv-Yafo | tel aviv lover advice needed Posted: Tue July 22, 2008 12:51 PM UTC
Hi everyone,
I visited Tel Aviv 3 years ago, had the best time ever. Am coming back with my kids this time for 4 days only, and i would love some ideas of what to do with them, that will outlast the sun bathing and shopping mall browsing. Alexander is almost 14, Grace is 11. my heartiest thanks, N.T. |

Shalom, Shalom...
I asked my wife what to do with kids when visiting Tel-Aviv and she said "Leave them at home !!!" .....no, no, no, only kidding...^O^ Depends on what they like. Our daughter likes the Luna Park (amusement park with rides), the Tieyellet (boardwalk along the northern port of Tel-Aviv), Neve Tzedik and Shuk HaCarmel area for the crowds and food, the observation deck in the Azreili Tower, the Safari (open type zoo)...all this again depends on what will capture their attention. Your wife is a very wise woman.
If i ask them what do they want to do, the answer is simple : plug us on the WII or the ex box with a butler on hand and see ya.....apparently it's a phase...bless them. I think the safari park is a good plan. Very grateful, Naima T

Yes, my wife says it is a "phase" with our daughter also, funny but it has lasted 19 YEARS already....^O^
In addition to the regular Safari there is also a bird "safari" just across the street from the Amusment park, I think it is called TSapari, a play on the Hebrew word for bird and safari. Yep it is still there, here is the website - http://zapari.upsite.co.il/?categoryId=23840 Sorry it is in Hebrew only. There is another amusement park that I forgot about, just south of Tel-Aviv in the beach area of Rishon LeTzion (about 10 minutes from TA). Here is the link to it also - http://www.superland.co.il/ It says that there is also a page in English, but it is impossible to access it for some reason. All these places are easy to get to and you can ask at your hotel about calling to find out hours and costs. Martin

The Superland in Rishon Lezion will probably be a better choice if your son is after scarier stuff. It's much newer and more modern than the amusement park next to the Yarkon park. Another place next the Yarkon Park (and the Zapari bird place) is the "Meimadion" water park. There are some water slides which might be fun for the kids.

Hi,
On Tuesdays and Fridays you can go to Nahalat Benyamin, there's a sort of artist market with loads of crafts to see and buy and a few street performers. It's usually between 9 to 16. People usually go to the Carmet market, but I think the Levinski market is more special, it's got many shops for spices and herbal teas, but I'm not sure it's a good place to visit with kids, as it's on the road... The superland in Rishon LeZion is cool for kids, but I'm sure you can go to better and bigger places back home... There's the flea market in Jaffa, and more important, some othentic restaurants if you're into Hummus. In the summer Tel Aviv has many festivals and special other affairs, you can check it out in the city hall web site: www.tel-aviv.gov.il Also, if you need a car, I recomend http://www.blue-sky.co.il which is a local company. Hope This helps!
