| Helsinki | Classical music in Hakaniemi Square Posted: Tue July 22, 2008 11:38 AM UTC
During a trip to Helsinki in June I saw a wonderful group of musicians performing near a coffee and pastries stand in the farmers market in Hakaniemi Square. It sounds kind of silly, but listening to them play while enjoying a coffee + doughnut with a bunch of locals was a real highlight of my trip. It was around 11am on Saturday June 14 and it was a group of 4 or 5 strings, led (so it seemed) by a very energetic bearded man who wore a baseball cap.
I know it's a long, long shot, but might anyone here have any information about the players or the material they performed? I have some poor quality recordings of the performance from my phone. If anyone with any knowledge of classical music would be willing to listen to these, I'd love to figure out what the pieces they were playing. Thanks! |

"Recordings" in the sense of "videos"? If yes, upload them on your VT page and we'll see (resp. hear).

Here are two clips. They are very poor quality:
http://www.floatingworld.homechoice.co.uk/ You'll need to download them to your computer. To play the first, right click and open with realplayer. The second is a video clip that will open with quicktime. If anyone recognizes any of it, I would love to hear about it. Thanks again!
