January can be wet, this year there seemed to be a lot of rain for long periods during the day, but other years not so bad. I have not stayed at the Patra but my sisters and parents have stayed there and really love it, big rooms, good pools and grounds are lovely. It is a fair way out of Kuta, 30 min walk and not many restaurants around but taxi fair is cheap. Mandira I have no idea but the location is excellent.

Generally Jan can be wet. We have stayed at the Patra and are about to go for our 5th visit. The rooms Deluxe Suites are spacious the furnishing are a little dated but the grounds are beauitful staff will do anything with a smile. However it can be a fair walk into Kuta (about 30 mins along the beach) there is a shuttle bus that runs 5x daily or you can walk along the beach. It only cost a few $ to get back to the hotel in the evening. We love the Patra it has 3 fantastic pools and it never seems very busy even when it is full. We had 15 of us stay at the Patra for my mothers 70th in Feb most came from the UK some of us from Aus but everyone loved it. If you have children or teenagers who want to be shopping all day it probably wouldnt be great due to the distance from the shops. I highly recomend the Patra I think I have some pics on my web page.

So susankosasih thinks the cnetre of Kuta with all the rubish lining the streets, the pavements in total state of disrepair, dogs roaming around is a better choice of location than the Patra, wow! I personally wouldn't recommend the centre of Bali to anyone at the moment. Oh and by the way the web-site www.baliamazingtour.com can cause problems with some browsers, something to do with a Java Script so be careful.

Sorry my previous posting should read the centre of KUTA not the centre of Bali, the centre of Bali is a great place, much cleaner than Kuta
