I've stayed at the Landmark twice and was very happy.

I always stay at the JW Marriott, the Landmark, Amari, Swiss Park and Nana are some of the closest to it.

Don't know what your budget is, but check out the Majestic Grande. It's about 200 meters down the same Soi as the JW Marriott (Soi 2).

I always stay at the Dynasty Inn Grande on soi 6, just behind the Marriot. It is very clean, comfortable and medium price. See my page on this hotel http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/1e4db/160d76/3/

We have just returned from two weeks at the Majestic Grande. It is a beautiful hotel, reasonably priced, astounding breakfast selection, good sized rooms and wonderful staff. If you are going to stay in that part of Bangkok, then the Majestic Grande is the pick of the affordable bunch. Just walk over the road, through the Rajah hotel carpark and you are in the seedy Soi Nana if that is your goal.
