My favorite casino, just to walk around in and be awed by the design is the Venetian. Look up at the ceiling to see the classical paintings, and if you want you can get a ride in an imitation gondola.

Since I haven't been to Las Vegas since about the 14th century, my suggestions would be a bit dated, lol. I do have some web sites that might be of help though. (1) www.a2zlasvegas.com, which is a very good "links" page,& (2) www.halfpriceshows.com. You might also wish to visit the web site for The Fremont Street Experience. They have a light show, and from time to time free entertainment, or concerts. Gary

Whatever you do - wear comfy shoes if you're planning to go hotel-hopping. I had a 15-year hiatus from Vegas and when I returned I found the land of the mega hotels. Whatever hotel did not grow to fit in a big city block has gone by the wayside, with the possible exception of the downton area, and walking from one to the other takes a while - and I love to walk!

It's fun to go see the different hotels though.

I think they now have a monorail that travels through some parts of the strip: www.lvnmonorail.com. That will keep you out of the heat for a bit. Gary

Don't miss Old Nevada if you have a car, its campy and fun, been around forever www.bonniesprings.com.
We were there 15 years ago and the cab driver told us this time they had been closed for years. Not so! They're still there and it's still a lot of fun. The Bar is fun and has great food too! Kind of a locals spot but lots of tourists go there as well.
Take the blue Diamond road out towards red rock. Oh by the way, make sure you take the loop drive through red rock as well it's really neat.

As endorsed above, Cirque du Soleil's show 'O' at the Bellagio Hotel is incredible.

If I was going to pick one place and to go and stay it would be The Ventian Hotel and Casino I have been told its the same as Venice Italy but cleaner, but I have'nt been to The Wynn yet. Also Ceasars Palace Shops. Depending if you're coming at the begining or end of Sept its one of the best months to come to vegas. Also a lot of good deals now since the casinos are down 20%.Go see a show Cher, O, or The Beatles Love at The Marage. The Palms has a deal 99.00 a night for a suite with a strip view.Theres a raft trip down The Colorado that I've heard is nice also Red Rock Canyon and Mt Charleston if you like the outdoors and theres always The Grand Canyon.

For me Las Vegas is all about the shows. If you like magic Lance Burton, at the Monte Carlo, is a must. A lesser known but very talented magician is Mac King at Harrah's. The great thing about Mac is his show is just as much about comedy as it is about magic. Also it's a matinée and very affordable. Penn and Teller are also a great show. Blue Man group is kind of old hat now but if you've never seen them it can be fun. There are all kinds of sites to tell you who is performing where so you won't have any trouble.

There’s plenty for everyone to do in Vegas even if you don’t gamble. I would say plan in advance and don’t be too optimistic, it’s a huge place and you’ll do a lot of walking. Here are some of my suggestions for things to do,

Go up the Stratosphere Tower for the great views, go at dusk if you can just as all the lights are coming on.

Watch the Bellagio Fountains then take a stroll along the Strip for the other free evening show, the Sirens at Treasure Island. I think the Volcano at the Mirage is closed until the end of the year.

Take a trip Downtown for the amazing lightshow and the party atmosphere on Fremont St. Take the Deuce bus from the Strip and get off where everyone else does.

Go to the Rio and watch the free Masquerade in the Sky show. There’s a free shuttle between the Rio and Harrah’s on the Strip.

Stroll around the Venetian and see the canals, gondolas, St Mark's Square etc.

Go to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris where you can look down on the Bellagio Fountains and get some great views.

Visit the Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo

Go see the lions at MGM and the tigers & dolphins at the Mirage.

Have a look around the Gamblers Museum at the Tropicana.

There are also plenty of tours and shows that you can book either before you go or when you get there.

Have a good trip.

Cheers

1. Buy yourself a monorail pass. It is worth the money, cheaper than a taxi and air conditioned.

2. Beautiful casinos to visit: Bellagio, Wynn, Venetian, Paris. I can personally attest to the fact that the Bellagio breakfast buffet is yummy.

3. The view from either the Stratosphere or the Eiffel Tower is amazing and worth the admission price.

4. There are so many gourmet restaurants in Vegas I highly recommend trying one.

5. Whoever recommended comfy shoes knew what they were talking about.

6. If you love to shop, you will love Caesar's Palace, Planet Hollywood, and the Venetian.

7. I did get my wedding vows renewed by Elvis and it was fun and fabulous. The guy the owns the Graceland Wedding Chapel was our Elvis impersonator and he really got into and was funny too. Order a wedding cake from Freed's Bakery, or you can buy wedding cake by the slice. So good.

Have fun!
