| Dublin | Is a 2 hour and 40 minute connection time realistic? Posted: Mon July 21, 2008 07:54 PM UTC
I'm trying to book a series of flights to get myself from Milwaukee to Yerevan, and I found some really great deals through Dublin, but what I'm wondering is if I get in to Dublin on an American/AerLingus code share flight from Chicago at 8:15am and have a flight out of Dublin to London at 10:55am on British Midland, is that at all realistic? Or am I going to miss my flight? Do those airlines work out of separate terminals? Thanks!

Dublin has a small airport; you should have plenty of time. Enjoy!

Providing your flight from Chicago is on time, then you should be okay. I assume you are able to book your luggage through all the way from Chicago to London, if that is your end stop to take a brerather before you continue on to Yerevan? Or from Milwaukee onwards if you are doing the whole trip to Yerevan in a one-er.

It shouldn't be a problem at all (provided your plane arrives on time). Dublin is a very small airport, and flying from Ireland to the UK is practically treated as a domestic flight so the check-in time is relatively quick, even for foreigners.
Also, airlines generally do all they can to get you off the plane as soon as possible and your luggage out quick for your flight transfer.

These small airports don't have many terminals and they need only about 45 min to transfer your luggage. Don't worry you'll have enough time to check-in for your next flight.

Just to confirm that Dublin Airport has just one terminal (the previous answers hinted that but I don't think anyone actually stated it for definite).

hi
there is only one terminal. you should be ok. if you look up www.dublinairport.com it will give you all the details. check with british midlands what time before your flight time they close the check in desk. some airlines are 40 minutes others an hour. on average i would say the most it will take you to collect your bags and get thru customs/passport control is 40 minutes and then allow about 40 minutes to check in and go thru passport control and get to your flight. usally you need to be at the flight about 20 minutes before take off. so all together you are looking at 1 hour 40 minutes max. be careful about liquids extra when you are flying dublin t6o london there are limits of 100ml that you can bring on the flight. all the details will be on the dublin airport website.
