| Sharm El Sheikh | flight to cairo Posted: Mon July 21, 2008 07:46 PM UTC
Hi we are going to sharm in September and would really like to tale the trip to Cairo to see the pyramids etc. We are keen to do this by flight instead of bus. Could anyone give us a rough idea of the general sort of cost we would be looking at. Also if anyone has any idea of cost for the quad biking in the desert. Many thanks.

Hi,
Have just joined this forum and saw your query. I am going to sharm in aug and i have booked a day trip to cairo for myself and my daughter. I booked the flights on egyptair.com and they cost about 130 Euro, for both. I was put in contact with a travel company in cairo called real life egypt (reallifeegypt.com) and have booked a day trip (escorted) with them which costs 900 Egp Pounds (about 110 Euro). No money up front for the day trip but i have been advised that they are very reliable. hope this is some help to you

The EgyptAir website is usually quite reliable. Once when it was down, I was able to book my flight on Travelocity. It would also be easy to hire a taxi when you arrive in Cairo, and have him take you on a self guided tour. If you're going to the pyramids, museum, and mosques or markets, you don't need a guided tour, unless you'd feel more comfortable. Just tell your driver where you want to go, what time you have to be back at the airport, and he'll advise you about where to go first. Of course, you'll want to set a fair price with him in advance. You may want to hire through an agency in advance just to avoid the hassle of fixing the price.....or you could just check their costs so you know what the top cost would be before you try to bargain with a taxi on your own. It all depends on your budget and comfort level. Either way, it wll be worth it.
