Bullfightings is my next travel plan. Can anyone inform me what about to the Madrid? I know that starts at May-June till September, but as i read Hemingway's book "Death at Afternoon", i see some rules that i need to confirm.
- Is 3 "shows" every evening?
- Witch names are the "must to see"?
- How is the tickets prices?
- Better early the summer, or late at August September?

Thanks in advance, if some expert give me an answer, i will mail him to ask more.

I do not know if are you familiar with a big argument that we had in the VT Forums pages .
I do not want to enter on it , I like bulls though I am not a great fan of them and I respect all opinions about .
I will try to answer your questions .
- You may enter in the web : http://www.portaltaurino.com/madrid/lasventas_2008.htm

to see the schedule in the Plaza de las Ventas in Madrid for this Summer and Autumn ( It is in Spanish , but you may click an English translation that is not very good )
- On each bullfight ( Corrida) there are three bullfighters in the ring and they will fight with two bulls each ( six in total ). Each bullfighter ( matador) has three toreros , that help him during his bullfight in the corrida and two "picadores" that ride on their horses
Normally the bullfighter is dressed wit some gold in his suit , and the other toreros have some thing in silver
The most veteran will fight first , then the second and the third . After this the sequence is repeated

- For the tickets prices you may see : http://www.bullfightticketsmadrid.com/ , they are reselling tickets more expensive that if you buy in the plaza directly , but you can make yourself an idea and perhaps may be useful
You will see that there are tickets in the shadow ( more expensive) and in the sun ( cheaper ). In both you have the same visibility , the difference is how you support the "sun"
You will see that there are Corridas and Novilladas
The corridas are bullfights , lets say with Master bullfighters and bulls with more than five years , they will be around the 500 kgs.
The novilladas are for young bullfighters and young bulls
-Any time is good . When you go to the B. the luck is important , because a famous "matador" can do very bad and a novel can do a great job

In my Santander page you may see the basic sequence of the bullfight

As I told you I am not an expert , but with this you may get a first idea

Buena suerte !!!!
