| London | Lunch in the city Posted: Mon July 21, 2008 11:30 AM UTC
Hi VTers,
I work in the city (around Liverpool Street/Bank) and quite frankly I'm sick of going to the same places for a quick, cheap lunch. My friends and I meet up for an hour and inevitably always end up at The Wall, Wagamammas or Ekachai. Are there any other places around the same area that you can go for a sit-down, fast and inexpensive lunch? |

Have a look at Spitalfields market and towards Brick Lane. Sit down lunches in the City usually mean a sandwich at your desk. Or sitting in Bunhill Fields with some of Marks and Spencers finest fayre and watching the girls go by. Inexpensive is not a word that is commonly heard in the City.

Towards Brick Lane is too far - we only have an hour! Mate, I've worked in cities for 8 years and I refuse to have a sandwich at my desk - I hate spending 8 hours a day there as it is!
As for sitting outside - London's "summer" has certainly prevented that. But thanks for your response ;o) Surely there's more VTers out there who work in the city who can help? Puhleeze!

There's a branch of Leon's inside Spitalfields market. Lovely, healthy and inexpensive food!!

Oh thanks - I completely forgot about Leon's! Went there last year and the food was great. The one on Cannon Street would be closer to me though.
Cheers!

Went to Cha Cha Moons which is on Canton Street just off Carnaby street . The owner is the guy that started Wagamammas , every dish is £3.50 , good food at decent prices , well worth a visit .

Carnaby Street is in the West End, not the city.

there's a really nice thai restaurant by a pub called the hatchet on garlic hill, it does an express lunch menu. also walk up to a pub in st pauls called the rising sun, again nice thai food. there's also a strada round the corner from there. on thursday and friday you could wander over to borough market which is busy but ace.
