I would recommend the Hotel Tourisme (tip on my Paris page) but you need to be a bit more specific as to the range of your budget.

Hotel Tourisme should fit your budget. Its near the Eiffel Tower and has a Metro stop outside the front door.

Try the chain hotels Premiere Classe, Etape, Mister Bed, Village and Campanille - I know there's a Campanille in the centre of Paris not sure of the rates, but I'd have thought they'd have been within your budget, they're a nice hotel with private bath/Wc. If you stay at Premiere Classe hotel they're part of the same group and you can eat at Campanille hotel in the same complex with a discount and often a free welcoming drink.

Hi Try Hotel De La Sorbonne in the Latin quarter opposite the Sorbonne University. It is a small pension hotel of approx 14 rooms, RER station 3 minutes away, and 10 minute walk to Seine Rive, Isle De Citi , Notre Dame and many other major attractions.
We stayed there May '07 and would stay again. Photo on my Paris page and web address. Also check out price on this web address as it is sometimes cheaper www.france.com Good Luck, Mike

Well, I am trevelling to Paris this August too, and I have booked Ibis Hotel at 17eme arrondissement. Have a look at it, at 49 euros per room (single or double, the same price) I think it is a very good offer. (Prices may vary depending on when you book it, normal price is 59 euro which is still a very good price)

Etap Hotel, Ibis Hotel and Mercure Hotel are good places to sleep, clean, well located (Etap Hotel may not be as central, and I'm not sure there are some in Paris).
Campanile are good too, and I could add Kyriad. All these are chains, with a good level of standing. If I could made another proposal, hotel Espace Champerret in Levallois Perret is very good, starting at 65€ (room for 2). It has a nice café just in front of it, a supermarket at 2 minutes walk, some restaurants, and it is 50m from the metro Louise Michel. It is in a very safe location The bad point is that you need to take the metro to get almost everywhere in Paris. Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysées are 30-35 minutes walk.
