Davao City Spider boat and others
Posted: Mon July 21, 2008 12:21 AM UTC
Hi there. It's me again.

1) Monica has mentioned the spider boat to Pearl Farm. What is that? Is it an alternative to the boat run by PF?

2) This is the big question I wanna ask: If I want to go back to PF at nighttime (say, 9.00pm), what can I take at the pier? Someone said there is a public ferry that 'runs pretty frequently just down the road at Paradise Resort'. Is that true?

3) How about water taxi? Someone said the water taxi ride to PF only takes a few mins.

4) What is the feeeding time for the eagles at the Eagle Centre? I know it's done in the morning but don't know the exact time. Is it done only once a day or more? I don't wanna miss it.

i don't know where did you get that information about the water taxi. davao city is not hong kong where you can find the best sea craft... and the fastest way to go to PF is thru speed boat... so, considering that there is a sea taxi in davao, what kind of sea craft is that? for i have never heard or seen one.

the public transport that goes to samal island is located at km 11 sasa davao city...its a ferry boat that can carry light vehicles and it operates only during the day. there's no way that a public transport be found in paradise because this is a private port and is exclusively used for their boat going to paradise resort.

CH the spider boats are fishing boats so called because of the protruding bamboos that hold the nets around the boat. I don't think they take on passengers.
BTW, the Pearl Farm has its own ferry and the fare is included in your package. I am not sure about the rental of boats to take you to PF aside from the usual run. It will probably cost you a lot! The boats that takes passengers to Paradise Resort is too far from the PF which is virtually on the far side of Samal Island, it is doubtful if there is a conveyance to take you from the Paradise Pier to the PF end of the island. I haven't heard of a water taxi that plies between the mainland and Samal (but then i haven't been back to Samal since 2006). If you want to catch the feeding at the Eagle center be sure to be there at 10.00 a.m.

I've seen boats dock on the little pier located on shores of the barrio adjacent to Paradise Resort. But it is quite a walk from the main body of the resort and street lights are non-existent on the distance bet. the barrio and the resort. If you really want to stay in the mainland till late, you might be better off staying in a hotel in the city.

If you can't stay in a hotel in the city, I suggest you take the Pearl farm Ferry to and from the resort. They have several trips a day and you can arrange to ride on the first trip out and the last trip back. Otherwise, the best way to go is to take the bus to samal. The Holiday bus has trips to samal several times a day. They pick-up passengers from a designated area in the city and take the ferry to Samal. If you ask the resort staff I'm sure they'll be able to help you with that.
