I plan to go to St.Petersburg late Sept. The tour includes taking the overnight train from Petersburg to Moscow.Is the train clean and comfortable?thanks.

Depends on the train class (there are lot's of overnight trains between these cities. But even the worth is not dirtier then 2-nd class let's say Italian or Greek train without couchets. If you wish you can take the one with WC in your compartment.

Overnight train is the most suitable and comfortable connection between capitals.
