| Luxembourg | info about train from Luxembourg City to Rothenberg, Germany Posted: Sat July 19, 2008 07:21 PM UTC
I would like to use my rail pass (4 country Benelux, France, Germany) to go from Luxembourg City to Rothenberg, Germany. Could someone please tell me what trains to take and how long the journey will be. Would it be better to spend the night in Trier before proceeding to Rothenberg?

http://www.bahn.de has all the train connections. English version of the page available.
I do not think, though, that you really want to go to Rothenberg, which is a tiny village in the Odenwald hills with some nice hiking trails but otherwise nothing to see. The town's name is RothenBURG. Look up: From: Luxembourg To: Rothenburg ob der Tauber

If it is "better" to stay in Trier before proceeding to Rothenburg is a matter of choice and time. I would consider it a fantastic stop-over as it is Germany's oldest city, founded by the Romans. There are churches and Roman sites of outstanding significance, and apart from that it is a very pretty city. If your schedule is not too tight just leave early in Luxemburg, spend the rest of the day in Trier, and continue your trip to Rothenburg the next day.
