Fire news - California Coast Posted: Sat July 19, 2008 05:27 PM UTC
This is not a question, rather an update for those of you who are considering coming up the coast.
We are in Cayucos right now. There is no trace of smoke. There was none in Santa Maria or SLO when we went through.
We will be up as far as San Simeon in the next day or so. I'll post further news then.

Thanks, I love the coastal drive along hywy 1, it is one of my favorites, so the fire news is quite distressing. Anything you find out will be of interest to me.

The vast majority of the fires are out within the whole state. Let's hope it stays that way.

Do you know how the little community of Big Sur and the state parks up that way toward Monterey are doing?

We went up to San Simeon this morning, and Paso Robles this afternoon. There were no traces of smoke in either place.
