| Bangkok | Day Trip...Bangkok to Pattaya Posted: Sat July 19, 2008 01:19 PM UTC
My wife and I will be in Bangkok in August, and would like to do a day trip to Pattaya. All the trips I find are for a "day snorkelling on the islands" We really just want to go through for a day to wander around Pattaya.
Can anyone please help with info on busses from Bangkok to Pattaya..How often and approximate price...Are there daily train trips? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. We will be staying at a hotel in Pratunam. Thanks |

Get a bus from Ekamai or Morchit bus terminal run every 30 mins. Same for coming back to Bangkok last bus about 8pm from Pattaya Bus Terminal. Was about 90 baht for cheapest seat maybe a little more no0w

I would look into renting a car and driver they are'nt that much money in Bangkok and you would have a car to drive you around and I would'nt miss the walking street at night.

The train take too much time to get to Pattaya and is not convenient.
I am assuming you did the smart thing and have a hotel in Bangkok that is at or near the Skytrain. You can take the Skytrain to the Ekamai bus station. At the Ekamai bus station you can get a bus to Pattaya. The ticket window is on the right side of the building - the ride should take around 2 hours and cost approximately 120 baht (depends on cost of fuel for that day.) Make sure that you get the faster VIP bus and not the "milk run" bus that takes 4 or 5 hours. Buses leave around every half hour during the day. If there are more passengers than buses available they will add extra buses. Seats are numbered. Hotels are cheaper in Pattaya than Bangkok, by the way. You could check out of your hotel in Bangkok (the hotel will probably store some of your bags for you if you ask.) You could spend the night in Pattaya. From the little bus station at Pattaya you can take a 20 baht "baht bus" to Beach Road. Get off at the Royal Garden Mall. (For the Royal Garden you will notice a McDonalds, Burger King, KFC and Pizza Company fast food places facing the Beach Road side. Other side of this mall has a crashed red plane sticking out of the roof. You can walk to Walking Street or pass through the mall and visit shops and malls on Pattaya 2nd Road (Pattaya Sai Song.) Beach Road is one way South and Pattaya 2nd Road is mostly one way North. Here is a couple maps. http://www.thaiwaysmagazine.com/pattaya_map/pattay http://www.guidetothailand.com/pattaya-thailand/ma Good luck.

Insure you listen to Sir Halbred's post above or your 2-2/12 hour bus ride can easily turn in to 4 1/2-5 hours. I believe the check in at Ekkamai is clearly marked in partial English 'Pattaya' and it is a direct bus rather than making every single stop along the way.

What's the reason you want to go to Pattaya for the day?? Not much there that you can't see in BKK, other than the beach, which isn't the best anyway.

The another way to get there.
Take a Van bus beside Century (at Victory Monument - Rangnam Road)tell the driver to take you to Pattaya cost 150 Baht. From Pratunam, take skytrain or bus no.77 (in front of Indra)
