Can anyone recommend a good place in Fiji to stay (not to expensive but not dodgy either haha) for a solo traveller? I am not interested in a party resort or anything like that, just a nice, relatively quiet place, where I can enjoy my own company and sit in the restaurant / bar / whatever without being bothered or feeling uncomfortable. I would prefer something on or very near the beach, either Coral Coast or one of the islands. Open to other suggestions - just not near the airport! Basically, I am after a quiet and relaxing break as a present to myself for my 30th!

I can recommend Crusoes Retreat on the Coral Coast. It would be perfect for a relaxing, inexpensive break. There are pics and write-ups on Crusoes in my Fiji pages if you are interested. Their website is www.crusoesretreat.com

I once spent some very nice days at the Tambua Sands Resort on the Coral Coast. It was not very big and it was very quiet, and there was a bus stop nearby, so you could go to the market in Sigatoka, and to other places if you were in the mood. Very relaxing. The only thing I did not like about the Coral Coast is... well, the coral in the sand and water, so swimming is not a pure pleasure. You should at least pack plastic/rubber shoes for swimming.
