| Zagreb | Train Fare Zagreb - Sofia? Posted: Fri July 18, 2008 09:06 PM UTC
Hello,
Can anyone provide me with up-to-date information about the one-way ticket price for the train from Zagreb to Sofia. I know that a change of trains in Belgrade is needed, but the whole-length ticket should be available in Zagreb. Thank you in advance. Venelin |

Standard TCV international fare is 83,80 euro.
If you want to save money and have spare time consider this: one way domestic fare Zagreb - Tovarnik (boarder) 116kuna or 87,2kn with ISIC/Euro 26 plus international ticket Tovarnik - Sid 2,40 euro. You can buy these ticks in Zagreb without changing trains at Tovarnik. In Sid you may buy Balkan Flexipass for 49 euro (up to 26 years), which is valid for 5 days of travel within Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Turkey and Macedonia. I'm not sure if there's international ticket office in Sid, where you could buy the Balkan Pass. If you don't want to risk it buy the domestic ticket to Tovarnik and internat. one from Tovarnik to Beograd for 13 euro - all in Zagreb and when you arrive to Belgrade ask for Balkan Pass. This should all together cost about 70 euros plus you will have another 3 days of travel for free with train pass. All prices above are regular TCV tariff, so there may be some special discounts between naighbouring countries.

Getting the domestic ticket to Tovarnik only is an excellent idea.
I would probably just skip the rest till Beograd and if the Serbian conductor shows up, buy from him the domestic portion between Sid and Beograd. Once in Beograd, there is not just roughly 50% discount on ANY ticket to Bulgaria from the full TCV tariff (international tariff) but also a special Beograd-Sofia relation discount.
