| New York City | Restuarants in theatre district Posted: Fri July 18, 2008 08:42 PM UTC
Love New York and haven't been in awhile(few years) I am looking for a restuarant in the treatre distict, before an 8pm show on a Saturday night. So it would be an early dinner and cocktails around 6pm. Group of 4, we are all looking for someplace fun, great food, dressy casual and moderately priced.($15.00-$25.00) I would really hate it if we made a reservation somewhere stuffy and quiet.
Any favorites that fit the bill? Thanks!!! |

Whew, there are so many around the theater district and most offer pre-theater discounts. I'll throw one into the arena;
Swizz, 310 W. 53rd St between 8th and 9th Ave www.1291swizz.com It offers fondue dishes which is somewhat unique plus they have very nice entrees like Chicken cordon bleu, Weiner schnitzel, goulash, etc. Their Pre-theater meals include a choice of nice desserts for $29 a person. After thinking about I'll add another: Carmine's, 200 W. 44th. www.carminesnyc.com I don't remember if they offer a pre-theater meal or not, but everything is served family-style in huge portions, so you order a few main dishes and everybody shares.

The theater district is big (from 41st St. to 54th St., and also including Lincoln Center on the UWS!), so it would help to know what show you're seeing.

Hey saw your post.. i recently stared living in nyc bc of an internship and i found www.travelskoot.com really helpful- search nyc or a type of food and a ton of maps will come up with restaurants and user comments.
:) good luck

there are a ton of restaurants off 9th avenue. just pick and choose. it is way too stuffy to make a reservation. just show up early!
