All you need is a plug that will work in eastern Europe, I believe it has two round pins instead of the usual flat ones.

You'll need the 220 volt adapter. Its the one with the two round rods. One of these adapters will cost you between 5 and 20 american.

Bookmark this site and you will be able to check the system yourself for what ever country you visit. If you fill out your VT profile (country of origin at least) those answering your question can at least know whether you have 110 volt or 230v equipment.

What is wrong with people! If you don't tell us where you're from how can we tell you what kind of adapter you need.

Converter converts 240 volts into 120 volts.
Adapter simply allows your plug to fit into the wall socket.

Most battery chargers and most laptops are dual voltage, i.e. 120 AND 240. They will be marked on the back of the appliance so turn it over and look. If it only says 120 volt, you will need a converter to convert the current or your appliance will fry.

If they are marked 120-240 or 120-220 volts, you do not need a converter. This is good because they can be heavy in your luggage and cost more than adapters.

If your appliance plug does not have two round pins to put in the wall plug, you will need to get an adapter that will fit your appliances and then plug into the European wall sockets that only accept two round pins. These are very inexpensive and can be purchased at most drug stores, Target, WalMart, Radio Shack, any good luggage store and most department stores. Find one that will take a 3-prong plug if that is what you have on either the battery charger or your laptop.

If your battery charger is an older one, it may not have dual voltage. Just go to a drug store and get a new battery charger. They need to be replaced fairly often anyway and it will save you buying a converter.

The web site give above (and below) has photos of all this so you can see what you are looking for.
