Hi
I'll fly to Milan this monday. Then I'll travel to the Balkans making stopovers in Slovenia, Croacia, Serbia and Bulgaria. Could you please let me know the following: 1 - I'll arrive to Milan at around midnight. Are there trains, metro or buses from Malpensa to the city center? 2 - Do you know about CHEAP hostels for shoestring travellers in the city center? Or would it be easy to brouse in the center of the city? 3 - Where is Milan's international bus station? Are there bus rides to Slovenia every day? Thanx in advance. |

For bus information, please see http://www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/en/malpensa/inde
Look at MALPENSA SHUTTLE AIR PULLMAN which shows a very few buses after midnight. For train information, look at http://www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/en/malpensa/inde But I am thinking that the last Malpensa Express leaves the airport at 23:23 and Trenitalia doesn't even stop at the airport at all (you have to take a taxi to Gallarate, but there probably won't be any trains that late). I can't tell you about hostels in Milan, never having stayed at one. I have no idea if there are buses to Slovenia at all. Most people would take the train - see www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html . Play around with the trip calculator, since different trains cost different amounts (by more than 100%). You may find taking several local trains may be much cheaper (and much slower) than a premium direct train. Ask me more about this if you have trouble seeing what I mean. There is a bus service called eurolines that may go where you want, but it is more intended for people spending the summer roaming around Europe hopping on and off, rather than a single trip... Bill

Thanks. I know Eurolines, of course, and that's what I mean. I want to hop on and off through Balkanic countries - Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, until I reach Bulgaria. I am sure there is a bus service but I might take the train.
