| Cambodia | Wheelchairs available in Angkor Wat Posted: Fri July 18, 2008 12:15 PM UTC
I had foot surgery several months ago and my recovery is not yet 100%. Are wheelchairs available for visitors at Angkor Wat?

I don't think a wheel chair will help much. There is a lot of walking up and down steps over obstacles and across uneven stone walkways. There are elephants available, though! They can't bring you inside most of the structures, but they look like fun.

Yes, I would second that! Was there a few months ago and would say that it would be very impractical to see the Angkor temples in a wheelchair! As said before, there are many steep steps at the sites and the ground is very uneven in places. I would wait until you are well recovered before visiting as it would be a shame to see the temples only from the roadside!!
Hope you can visit soon as the trip is well worth it!!
