Hello!

How long approx. would it take to drive across Bali, around the island... I remember reading some details in Eat Pray Love, which planting the Bali adventure idea in my head, but I don't have it here with me yet. I haven't decided which town to stay in, but I'll have 18 days once I get there.

Also, I know you can create travel guide on here, how would you save the random tips from forums? I was really interested in the info on buying gold jewelry.

(1) Bali is not big. If you drive all day, you could drive around the island in two days. One day from west (Gilimanuk) to east (Amlapura) along the north (Singaraja), and one day back along the south (Denpasar).
However, you could also take two weeks for the same route, to see and enjoy all things of interest.
I would suggest, though, that you skip the western part of Bali (not your typical Balinese culture), and do some overland routes instead: Amlapura - Kintamani - Singaraja; Singaraja - Bedugul - Denpasar; and other inland roads. Get a map and drive wherever your fancy takes you. 18 days is quite sufficient to explore Bali.

(2) At the bottom of each forum reply there is a button "Add to your Personal Travel Guide" (or words like that). Did you miss it?

Honestly, I haven't been on the Travel Forums much yet, so I did miss the "add to your travel guide" link.

I don't know that I am going to road trip so much, I don't know when exactly I'm going to get to Bali since the Army doesn't give us exact leave dates, just the general part of the month you'll leave. I mostly wanted an estimate so whever I decide where I'm going to stay, if I hear about something somewhere else I know it won't take forever to get there.

Thank you! I probably won't rent a car, but I might hire a driver for a day. I originally was thinking of staying in Ubud, but I'm kinda veering toward staying at the beach instead. Pools are lovely, but there's just nothing like sitting on the sand and listening to water flow... Ahh...
