Hi All,

Need some help with this, Im flying into Alice Springs on 1st Aug and making my way to Aires Rock which i need to get to Cairns from. I have checked flights and it just seems like Quantas are the only ones that do the route and are really expensive Has any one got any suggestions can you get a bus? I dont have a drivng licence and i have a small budget :-)

Hey..firstly where are you leaving from to get to alice springs, Darwin?...can you just be a little more specific and I'll see if I can explore some options for you...Ayres Rock is now officially called Uluru (aboriginal name) and I think it's easier to get there via Darwin and then you could fly from Darwin to Cairns ..anyway I'll help if I can...regards Elly

Thanks for your help. I'm flying from Darwin to Alice i have an RTW ticket and that is one of the stops, its just i have to make my own way from Uluru to Cairns. I think i will just get a bus from Alice Springs to Uluru. I cant find any real info on my options besides the Quantas flight which is very dear to Cairns.

I wanted to recommend you Greyhound Australia www.greyhound.com.au - but I tried a booking to find out how much the trip would cost, and whatever date I put in it always said that there is no available service on that date... So I guess something is wrong with the website... I cannot imagine they are fully booked the next half year...

Hi Darragh. Unfortunately from what I can see, Qantas is the only airline that does. I always check out www.flightcentre.com for preferences. This site always gives you the cheapest way to go....even if it's with Virgin via Melbourne. I looked up flights on the 4th August and came up with Qantas via Alice Springs to Cairns at $434.10 which I reckon is the cheapest you'll get. But I'd book now, because the Red-e-Deals tend to get booked out quick. ...believe me, that'll probably be the cheapest you'll get it :o)
