| Switzerland | Exchanging Euros for Swiss Francs Posted: Thu July 17, 2008 07:42 PM UTC
We will be traveling into Bern from Paris and probably will have some left over Euros. While in Bern can anyone suggest where to get the best exchange rate for Swiss Francs? We will only be in Bern for a few hours with our final destination of Lauterbrunnen, but figured a bigger city would be better for an exchange.

BEST RATE you have found to the SWISS BANK. See to all and note wherre are the good rate. It's verry insignifiant the average rate.

hi there
as already mentioned the most convenient is at the train station itself. otherwise you might risk to walk around in bern to search for a bank and as you don't have much time, you better change at the train station...if you have EC-Card you can use it at nearly every place... have fun in Bern... just for your info: most places (Restaurants, Shops and so on) in Switzerland accept Euros. So if you do not have much left just keep using them.

About paying in Euro in restaurants or other shops is not a wise idea. Euro is accepted in main touristic places, but you will get a quite unfavourable exchange rate if you pay in this currency.
Avoid to pay in Euro. Try to change your Euro in a bank to get better exchange rate.I recommend you to pay with credit card which are widely accepted in Switzerland.

I probably won't have too many Euros left over when arriving in Switzerland considering the direction the USD has been heading against the Euro and other currencies. That being said I am really looking forward to visiting your lovely country. It has always been my first choice for my first vacation to Europe. My wife's first choice has always been Paris and we will fly into London. Also looking forward to the fabulous train transportation.
