Hello

Getting from EWR to Manhattan (and back):

Air Train: The Air Train offers connecting service to NJ Transit and Amtrak trains which will bring you into Manhattan. Surprisingly, this can actually be much quicker than taking a cab or bus, and it is much more affordable. $11.55pp one way will bring you from Newark Airport to Penn Station

The Distance from New York Penn STN to 2nd Ave & E 42nd St,(New York Helmsley Hotel‎, Tudor Hotel‎ & Grand Hyatt New York) approx 5 -10 mins by yellow taxi. By Subway take N Bound to Times Sq (1,2,3) Take Subway East Bound (7) to Grand Central 42nd.

By Taxi from EWR to Manhattan at $45-$55 oneway

Best wishes

A taxi, including tip/toll, will be around $65-$70. I've never taken the airtrain, so can't comment on it. But I do take the bus, which I find easy and convenient. Take it to Grand Central, your hotel is three blocks away. What ever you do, don't take the Super Shuttle, it's terrible!

How much luggage do you have, and do you want to walk 3 long blocks (nearly 500 yards) from Grand Central with it? If you are traveling light and want to be cheap, the bus & walk sounds good (note: I haven't done the bus myself).

I have taken the train, and it works just fine, as noted. If you have luggage, I would suggest the taxi from Penn Station to the hotel. I have always thought that arriving in town tired and with all sorts of luggage was a poor time to economize (i.e., by taking the subway or bus from Penn Station). Train plus taxi will certainly be much cheaper than taxi all the way.
