Laos Travel Forum

Hi i'll be in hanoi for a business trip, then wanted to travel from hanoi to laos. any idea for how to spend 2 weeks in laos? i prefer to see nature and take my time slowly instead of a rush. thanks!

Hi Just been in Luang Prabang this week and you can certainly enjoy 3 or 4 days there. A trip by boat to the caves on the Mekong and then beyond to the ethnic village with return can take a day. Good to spend at least half a day admiring the beauty of the waterfalls just north of the town. I didnt go to the elephant camp but a lot of people did. Last year I did a 3 day trek through the hills around luang prabang and stayed for 2 nights in ethnic minority villages and it was good fund. Suggest you check that you dont do it anywhere near monsoon time and the worms were easily fixed but a nice legacy!. Have not seen any more of Laos save for the road between Vientiane and Luang Prabang which I took by the VIP bus (cost 20USD) beautiful countryside but a bit hard on the bottom...no easier way saye flight)......I have not been to plain of jars but suspect nice. Any time on the mekong is nice but you may have to rough it...

Obbo, can I suggest you check my Luang Prabang and Vientiane pages on this forum? We recently spent a wonderful 2+ weeks in this country and did a lot of well rewarded research befor we took the trip.
