| Jurmala | Interest in what to do in Jurmala Posted: Thu July 17, 2008 06:50 AM UTC
My wife and myself will be in the Jurmala area. We are staying for 2 weeks at Sanare Jaunkemeri starting October 4th. What would you suggest for senior citizens to see in Jurmala, especially on Sunday?

October. If you are lucky with the weather you will see the golden leaves. Just get to Riga and walk in the Old City and the parks nearby. Jurmala itself will be pretty empty at this time and Jaunkemeri is a bit isolated place. Perhaps they offer excursion to Sigulda which is a National Park and very nice in autumn. The old park of Kemeri is worth a walk too.

Thank you for your help. Last year we were also in Jaunkemeri and traveled to the old city of Riga. The walk in the Kemeri forest looks interesting, being we are in part of the forest. Maybe we'll take a walk there. Where can the beautiful leaves be seen? I am a photographer that have given solo exhibitions in Poland and all of Germany.
Thanks again for your help

Thank you very much for your answer. Being I am staying in Jaunkemeri Sanare I think it will be easy to visit Kemeri. What Bus do you take from Riga? This must be one of the buses that pass Jaunkemeri, like the 6 bus. Would you know how often the bus travels, say every 20 minutes? Also is the last stop Kemeri?
Jaunkemeri is also in the forest and I have enjoyed walking there, and photographing. I have been taking pictures for the last 65 years. I have given solo exhibitions in Poland, in Qestern Germany, in Eastern germany, and many in my country Israel. The world is so beautiful out there. Hoping to hear from you. Moshe

Thank you for your help. Where should I get off in Kemeri to see the views, I love to photograph. Is there anything to see in the town of Kemeri? How much time do you think I need there to see things? I know where to get the busses from Jaunkemeri.
Thanks again for your help

It's beatiful sea beach - sand, sea, trees. And old and modern buildings in Majori, Dzintari, Bulduri. I like to walk there under sun and rain. You can use train from Riga directly.

Being I'll be traveling in 8 weeks, I believe that Jurmala will be deserted, but still on a nice day the beach area would be nice. I'll be only 10 minutes away by bus. Thxs
