Papua Province Travel Forum

Papua in September

I am planning a trip to Papua (and Toraja, because the flight from Jakarta makes a stop in Makassar anyway).
I have heard that it's not the safest place for a solo-female traveler, so I am looking for travel partner(s).
Since I only have a week to spend in Papua, my main destination is Baliem Valley. Helpful information are highly appreciated!

Hi Ellin,

Recently there were similar questions on the forum by VT-ers jennyjaya and Glorija. Jennyjaya may actually be in the Baliem valley at this moment.
You can find the forum discussions if you search for Keyword = Baliem.
You might try to contact these VT-ers by VT-mail to ask about their experience.

And did you browse the tips on Papua Province?

When in September you guys are visiting? Sept is actually my ideal schedule, but I heard about the Baliem Valley festival on the 8th - 12th of August and would like to be there for it.

probably on the second week of september.
yes i ve heard about that baliem festivel also..
tho its unlikely for me to go there in august (will be travelling in java around that month)
