Prefecture of Zante (Zakynthos) top ten to see/ visit

We can start from the "basics", which you should not miss at all:

1)An organized guided tour of the island.
2)A daily excursion to "NAVAGIO" (the Shipwreck), the most breathtaking beach and scenery in Greece!
3)A visit to the park of Caretta-Caretta, the famous turtle, who has chosen the island of Zante as its habitat.

Enjoy your holidays!

Hi

Good suggestions there by INSULARIOS! :-)

The view of the Navagio shipwreck from the viewing platform up above is truly breathtaking! It is one of my favourite views in the world...you really shouldn't miss it!

I was a little disappointed with the boat trip to Navagio - it doesn't look quite as spectacular at sea level, the beach is full of very sharp pebbles which cut into your feet and the sea shelves very quickly and the tide is strong, so it's not ideal for swimming.

Zante Town is well worth a few hours exploring - there is some interesting architecture and lots of narrow streets to wander through.

If you're into beaches, you'll find good sandy beaches all around the island. Last time I visited, I stayed at Alikes which has a long beach with calm seas and is a great place to swim or relax.

I also undertook a daytrip to the neighbouring island of Kefalonia. It was a long day and included the ferry crossing, trips to the underground Melissani Lake and Drogorati Caves and a bit of free time in the capital, Argostoli. You'll see lots of great scenery from the window of your coach - including the world famous Myrtos beach (the coach passes along the mountain road, right above the beach - not for the faint hearted! ;-))

Enjoy Zante!

Jonathan

Thanks you both for great comments!
I just came back from Zante & totally agree with above - a boat trip to Shipwreck is not very spectacular, plus it was cancelled once due to storm (I am sure now that it is best to see from above, e.g. a coach/ car tour). We had not very good weather at the end of July by some reason, once it was a real storm, and I was not able to take a boat trip to Kefalonia as I'd wanted to.
But I had a very nice and pleasant boat trip on the first day to National Marine Park - Lagana's bay, Turtle's island, Keri caves. We have seen huge turtles swimming very close to our boat. It was great expirience for me.
Zante town looks nice too.
