Not the best area for beaches I'm afraid, for sitting in the sun you are better by your hotel pool. That said the coastline is fantastic with cliffs falling straight into the sea and a most wonderful drive along a road clinging to these cliffs.

Not sure where you are staying but Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, Ravello are all worth a visit. Plus Capri, Naples, Pompeii the list is endless.

Loads of super buys include pots, Limocello liqueur, pasta in every shape.

Check out my and other VTers pages for loads of info to much to tell here.

Enjoy.

Hi. The water is lovely there and not too cold. Generally the beaches rent sunbeds for the day. The prices vary but for 2 chairs and an umbrella it is about 15 euro for the day. I stayed in Amalfi for a month so I can answer questions about those beaches. I spent 5 euro a day for a sunbed at Mandingo Beach the main beach in Amalfi.

Hi,

Thank you very much for the info. My partner and I are spending just 48 hours there in two weeks: arriving at noon, then leaving at noon the day after next.

We are thinking about going to the beaches there, probably walking around the town of Amalfi. We are visiting ravello, for those M.C.Escher sights and buy us some limoncello.

If you can tell me detailed info about activities there, where to go, what not to miss, where to eat cheap, and where to eat fancy and satisfactorily, as well as where to go for drinks and stuff that would be perfect. I hope I am not being so demanding here.

Thanks again for your help.
