| Tortosa | Ebro's Delta... Posted: Tue July 15, 2008 10:03 AM UTC
Some friends told me about the Ebro river's delta... they said it's gorgeous. Has anybody ever been there? If I take a train to Tortosa, how far am I from the nice things? How do I get from Tortosa to Deltebre?

Sorry I can't help on how to reach it by public transport (I went using my own car) but yes it's a beautiful area. I think there are trains from Tortosa to L'Aldea (hopefully others may confirm) and from there I guess there will be some kind of transport to near the protected area (Deletebre is the nearest village to the park, about 25 Km from Tortosa)
The Delata is a must if you like birdwatching, but is very interesting in any case. I loved specially the sky reflected over the rice fields at sunset! you'll find more info here http://mediambient.gencat.net/eng//el_medi/parcs_d and here, but so far only the Catalan version does work http://www.deltebre.net/

there are trains from Tortosa to L'ALDEA-AMPOSTA, depending on where you are travelling from, yo may not need to go as far as Tortosa although I think it would be worth seeing. I would imagine taxis from the station would be an option.
Renfe (train) site is here: http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/hjhir130.jsp?&O=6
