les grandes eau nocturnes at versailles
Posted: Mon July 14, 2008 07:10 PM UTC
Has anyone been to any of the 'grandes eau nocturnes' at versailles? I am going on 16th august at 9.30 pm. my husband and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary and would like an evening meal first but are not sure whether to eat in paris before catching a train, eat in versailles or in the chaeauu grounds. i think it is unallocated seating so is it better to arrive earlier? Sorry for all the questions!

Hi,

That's a very good idea to see the Grandes eaux de Versailles !! I've seen them so many time ( I've lived 20 at 10 minutes by car ) and I still love it.
Poorly, most of the toursists come in Versailles just to visit the Palace and its gardens and they don't know that the city is very nice for a walk and have lots of good restaurants.

You could go at the market place. It's 5-10 minutes by walk from the entrance of the palace and you'll find lots of restaurants ( for every budgets).

Click on this link to see where it is :

http://maps.google.fr/maps?hl=fr&ie=UTF8&ll=48.805422,2.127292&spn=0.00554,0.011759&z=16

On this map the entrance of the palace is on the left and the market place is the square at the cross of the streets "Rue de la Paroisse" and "Rue du Maréchal Foch".

You have also a nice brasserie (a little bit chic) that some of my friends have recommended me just in front of the palace, the name is : Au Fou du Roy, 6 rue Chancellerie )
