| Bergen | Norway in a nutshell making me nuts. Posted: Mon July 14, 2008 06:13 PM UTC
Can anyone explain Norway in a Nutshell?
So far I know its meant to be the most beautiful trip on public transport(appreciated) and you can do it in a day. But what time does it happen, do you get food? Is there a tour guide? is it straight forward conections? anxiety anxiety. If its public transport in the middle of no where do people go AWOL? yeh yeh I know its a stupid question but not so stupid when you read a million things, that do not come to a satisfactory conclusion. |

Not sure if you've seen the site - including it just in case:
http://www.norwaynutshell.com/default.asp?adwords= I don't want to admit we purchased the ticker from Eurail - but in Europe you probably have another place to purchase it ... anywhooo - - It's a combination of (1) a train from Oslo, then (2) a picturesque smaller train (Flam) - note: you need to "rush" that train in the summer to get a good seat, (3) the most incredible boat tour thru the fjords, (4) a bus trip up the mountain, and (4) the rest of the train trip into Bergen. I assume you could do it in the opposite direction, this is how we did it. OK to carry your luggage with you if done in a day - we did. You pretty much do it as you wish. You can do it all in a day, or you could choose to stay in one of the places along the way, this is what is confusing. We did it in a day. If you have not visited Bergen, make sure you allow a couple of days there.

As you said yourself, it's public transportation. It just happens to be one of Norway's most popular trips combining the legs mentioned above. Some tour operators make a lot of money selling the tickets you can buy yourself much cheaper. You can get tickets for each type of transportation, or buy a complete roundtrip as you please. There is no "must do" way, but the Flåm train is best going downhill. A friend of mine happens to be one of the drivers during the summer.
Greetings from Bergen

re: Bomb.
Its an expression from urban street talk in the US and the UK. Your da bomb, or your the bomb! Its a stupid way to express excitement, and you really shouldnt accidentally say it at the Airport! Used as an interjection to convey emotion of excitement of the speaker, which usually has no grammatical connection to the rest of the sentence and simply demonstrate the explosive feeling of a particular experience. I hope that didnt confuse you more. I will laugh if it catches on in Norway! Many thx

awwww ... yes watch it at the airport.
We had some swedish business partners who got in trouble for talking about the BOM in the airport - it was all work related, stood for "bill of materials".
