| Zermatt | drive from Germany to Zermatt..what to see? Posted: Mon July 14, 2008 11:23 AM UTC
We will be driving from Germany into Switzerland and making our way down to Zermatt (6 hour drive). Do you have any suggestions on what to see along the way and what to see in Zermatt? We are leaving early Friday morning and coming back Sunday (not a lot of time).

When travelling down to Zermatt, go through Thun and on to Spiez. Turn up the Kandertal and put your car on a train at Kandersteg. 20 minutes later, at Goppenstein, turn left up the Lötchental to Blatten. After visiting Blatten, make your way down to Visp and on to Zermatt. You have to park your car and take a train to Zermatt anyway, so it is best to get there and sort yourself out.
On the way back, turn right up the Valais and continue on through Brig and eventually up and over the Grimsel Pass to Meiringen. Then travel over the Brunig Pass to Luzern, and from there back home to Germany. This should ensure you get a bit of a taster of Switzerland.
