| Mexico City | Bras and Restaurant close to Florencia / Zona Rosa Posted: Mon July 14, 2008 10:37 AM UTC
Dear community,
I will be on a business trip for a week to Mexico City.My Hotel is located in the "Zona Rosa" in a street called "Florencia". Any recommendations regarding good restaurants and pubs closed to our Hotel ? ( I already found out that is is a "gay zone"...so please only recommendations for pubs for heterosexuals...) Kind regards from Germany Dirk |

There are TONS of them in this area...... depends on your tastes and preferences. I have a special recommendation on my Mexico City page for a restaurant called FOCOLARE in this area (they serve mexican food). There are bars such as Yuppie's Sport Cafe and Freedom (very close to Focolare) which aren't gay oriented. There's a shopping mall called PLAZA DE LA ROSA on Liverpool street where they have a very good italian restaurant called ITALIANNI'S (they have many other locals around the city). There are also chain restaurants such as VIPS, BISQUETS OBREGON and SANBORNS (this latter also has a bar but it's not too fun so I won't recommend it). Lots to choose from.... and of course other restaurants which are more expensive and "classy". Good luck.

Lots of places from which to choose. By the way, the Zona Rosa is a diverse district - not a "gay district." It's the city's center for live entertainment - bars & restaurants - and attracts all sorts of people. Wander about and you'll find a place to your liking - it's a relatively small zone.

Hi Bill,
thanks for your reply. Just a little bit of work in the search engines, and I found out that the "Zona Rosa" is the place for me. I am looking for some fun after working days at an exhibition.... Kind regards from Germany Dirk

For some fun in really nice and modern restaurants and bars I would move towards Reforma Ave which is 5 minutes away from your hotel. I would try the W hotel bar and in the parallel street, Campos Eliseos you'll find a bunch of "posh" bars and restaurants.
Good luck.
