| Iran | WiFi in Iran Posted: Mon July 14, 2008 08:30 AM UTC
Hello,
I am going on a business trip to Iran very soon. I will need to use a wireless internet connection for my laptop. Will I have problems locating WiFi hotspots in Iran? Is that common there? Thank you, JL. |

Don't rely on it, you might not be able to find it.

Hi,
Please note there are NO 'hotspots' (free wireless Internet access locations) in Tehran or other cities that I know of. So the best you could do is to take your laptop to a good InternetCafe (known as CoffeeNets in Iran) to ask the store manager to hook you up to their LAN! Also, it is hard to find cofeenets with connections speed of higher than 256kbps even in Tehran. The fastest one I Know claimes 1MGPS speed and is quite near the famous 'Sizdahe-Aban' Pharmacy just around the corner from 'Hafte-Tir' Square! Take care. Bye. PS There are now blackouts everyday in Tehran and other cities which last up to 4 hours. So you may need to bring a long extra battery for your laptop as well.
