| Krakow | Who has info on the "Apostle building"? Posted: Sun July 13, 2008 09:51 PM UTC
I remember Gosia saying how proud the Poles were of this architecture and I took several photos of the building...which is stunning. However I don't have any exact info to include in my tip. For instance, is it used as a church? Does anyone know the age? I don't suppose there is a web site in English which I could go to, is there?

It is the church of St Peter and Paul, and when I was there this past May, yes, it is used as a church. There was quite a bit of construction at the time ...

Have you followed the thread about the VT meeting in Krakow for 2010? It's coming together and promises to be excellent!

Yes, I've been getting a ton of notices about that 2010 mtg. I signed on in the very beginning. NOt sure I will be able to do it because I intend to return to POland in the spring. Probably couldn't get back there the very next year. No telling what will happen between now and then, but certain that all members who visit Krakow will love it. Fabulous World Heritage city.

By the way, if you happen to be near Ireland, we're having a meet in Cork mid-October which I'm really looking forward to attending. A little bit of an odd itinerary because I decided I would not delay visiting Istanbul, so I'm flying into Dublin from Istanbul.

So, if you still need some information - it is a Jesuite church of St. Peter and Paul, built in the barouque style, almost a copy of the Il Gesu church in Rome. It is used as a church and once a week you can watch the Foucault pendulum, which is at display there. Also there are some concerts of classical music organised there

thanks for your response to my question. Perhaps I'll catch a glimpse of the interiors on my next trip.
