| City of Manila | Swimwear in Manila Posted: Sun July 13, 2008 06:13 AM UTC
Hi, it's me again.
After visiting Manila, I'm going south to Cebu. I would like to get some nice swimwear (board shorts for me, swimsuit for my girlfriend). Does anyone (sorry, I used 'do' in my previous message) know of a shop where I can get some nice swimwear? I'm not interested in the tacky swimwear sold near beaches (I mean no harm here. Go to Pattaya, Thailand and you'll know what I mean). I prefer a shop specialising in swimwear in a mall. Any local brands you recommend? May I know where they are? Or do you have a website so that I can check out? |

Swimwears can be found in most malls and department store, ask the salespersons for direction to swimwear section. Visit SM or Robinson's, these are 2 major department store chains that have several branches in Metro Manila. If I remember right, you plan to stay in the Malate area. Go to Robinson's Faura.

Other than Speedos (swim trunks, goggles. etc), I go for Maui & Sons for board shorts and shirts which are available at all SM and Robinsons malls (department store or the mall's sports shops like Toby's). However, I'm not sure if Maui is a local brand or not but definitely cheaper than Speedo. Check these local shops which may have some nice swimwear on display too: Bench or herBench (for women), Penshoppe and Human. I'm not aware of any local shop especialising in swimwear. Kindly tell us if you found one. =)

Any Mall will have swim wear. I've seen speedo shops but never Maui and Sons where are they because they are a very expensive here in the US they are from Hawaii but maybe made in Philippines.Filipinas don't seem to wear very small bathing suits like here so I don't seem to see that many sold I think they are afraid they will get darker or just have more respect for their bodies and don't want to walk around almost naked.

:) if you go to greenhills and the other bargain centers here you can get board shorts for 1/3 of the price nimato has qouted but obviously the quality will not be same as the pricier ones. :)

Some stores in malls actually carry brands like Roxy, not too sure about the pricing.

Roxy/Quicksilver I've seem and are very expenisve there.Like Oakley and other brand name sunglasses are twice the price in the Phils than in the US. I think if its made in the Philippines it cheaper than if it is imported. Guess jeans from a guess store in Philippines 25.00 US 200.00 fake guess jeans 5.00
