Has anyone stayed at either the Best Western Bang Tao or The Bangtao Village Resort? We are looking for somewhere that has 2 bedroom apartment style accomodation north of Patong. Any suggestions at all would be welcome it's for the January school holidays for 2 families so I need to book it soon as some places are already sold out. Thanks

I would go for the Best Western Premier, I haven't stayed at Bangtao Village but the reviews area ok:
http://www.r24.org/patong-beach-hotels.com/phuket/ Note the rates drop about 20% from 21st January ! It is cheaper than the Best Western, depends on your budget

Try www.allamanda.com
It's at Bangtao Beach, part of the huge Phuket Laguna complex of 6 resorts. Allamanda is great for families as they are all suites with small kitchen corner and lots of 2-bedroom units. Insist on Lagoon View if you like overlooking the beautiful lake. It's a 4-star but not too expensive.
