We'll be off to Cologne in a few days time and I wonder if the city center is walkable from the train station.
Is it practical to buy the "Welcome Card" that costs €9 or just a 24-hour transport card? Also, has anyone already stayed at the Classic Harmonie Hotel at the center of Cologne? Any reviews? Tips for this trip will be appreciated. Thanks. ***bell |

the train station is very centrally located right next to the gothic cathedral.

Claus has already said it - the train station is in the heart of town, next to the cathedral, Römisch-Germanisches Museum and Wallraf-Richartz-Museum, and the pedestrian mall. The hotel is, according to Google Maps, 2 blocks from the station, can't be more than 200 m. No need for public transport.

don't let yourselves get confused by some of those construction sites in the vicinity of the Hbf.. they are building a new subway line...
