Hi
I am planning to come to calgary at end of july.I need car rental for 1 week to go to banff and jasper.Can you recommend a car rental at airport.is it better to book it ahead of time considering busy season.what do you guys think about need for car rental insurance . Thanks |

As for the rental insurance, that depends on you. Many people (like myself) have credit cards that provide secondary coverage; that is, my personal car insurance is the primary coverage and the secondary coverage covers what's left over (expect for the deductible. I had occasion to use it a couple of years ago through American Express, and it worked fine.
The reason people use this is because the car rental insurance offered by the car rental company is frightfully expensive on a per day basis, dramatically increasing the total cost of rental. Note, however, that I am in the US while you are Canadian, so your personal auto insurance and credit card secondary coverages may be different... Bill

Enterprise here is the cheapest; check your credit card to see if you're covered for rental insurance before the rental agency fleeces you for it. I would book ahead of time for sure, July is prime tourist time in the Rockies. Visitors are down due to fuel costs and the US economy, but I would book ahead anyway.
