Hi
I've read bad reports about driving, which I suspect is scare mongering. Can anyone please give me an up-date. We're towing a small caravan from Vienna to Zdikov and then to Plzen and then to Nurnemberg. Mainly we want to see cesky budejovice and Karlovy Vary. Is it advisable to use the motorways - if so how much does the pre paid sticker cost - do we need an extra one for the caravan. Sorry to ask so many questions. Hope someone can help please. Thanks |

3 years ago I had a rented car to explore the South Moravian borderlands area (to south of Brno) and had no problems at all.
No motorways so can't help on that.

We rented a car for a couple of days in May, 2008 and I think the reports of crazy Czech drivers and bad roads is certainly overblown, especially if you are used to large city driving (Chicago) like we are. What is true though is that it is expensive to rent a car, gas is extremely expensive even compared to the US where it is $4 a gallon (I think it was roughly $7.50 a gallon in the CR) and parking/driving difficult in large cities such as Prague and Vienna. And anywhere near those large cities expect to hit some traffic jams.
Can't help on the sticker, ours came with the rental car. And I'm not sure how you'd park a caravan, most of the parking we did was in small spaces.
