Hey folks - first, thanks in advance for any help on this topic. I dish it out heaps in the Sydney travel forum, so do know that I help plenty of folks on VT too!

I've written a book, and for PR purposes, I'm going to distribute copies on a CD. What makes me nervous is, I don't want people to be able to download my book of the CD with the potential to email it around/give it to others for free.

Is there a security program that can help with my concern? I'd love it if the reader could only open my book on the CD without the ability to download the file off the disk.

This may not answer your question, but when I worked for a large publishing company, (Pearson Education) we had CD's that schools used for teaching grammar. Those CD's were only good to use on One computer. There was some kind of security code that did not allow the schools to copy the CD and use on all their computers; ie. they had to buy one CD for every computer they used. So, it is possible to do what you want to do; How, I just can't help. Sorry. Probably, your best bet for this information, would be to contact a company that publishes such CD's as audio books?? and consult their tech team. Good luck with your book.
