which hotel would u advise between centara grand aonang and railay bay resort? which beach is better? where r the waters calmer? visiting in july

I stayed at Railay Bay Resort and Spa last year.
The only way to get there is a long-tail boat from Ao Nang. Be sure to check weather conditions in July. Maybe it is already the wet season, so might be a bit harder to get to because of the waves. When we were there, the water on the western part is better and calmer than Aonang, but I've been to better beaches. Phrang Nang Bay on the other side of Railay is great. You can walk there from Railay Bay Resort. That was my favorite part. Clear water and "less" crowded than Ao Nang, but it is still crowded nonetheless. Ao Nang is just more convenient and easier to get around to, but it is too developed and crowded for my taste. But that may work for you since you have kids. Downside to Railay is the somewhat limited dining options. Ravayadee, though a bit expensive, has a fantastic restaurant on the western part.
